posted byI just put the final touches on a custom CMS I build for a Client of Vivid Ascent called Modern Masters. They make countertop transformation kits, that you can paint over your old countertop to make it look like a granite countertop. Its really cool stuff and looks great. On the site, I build an image gallery that allows users to upload their before and after photos of their countertops to share with others. Seems simple enough but their are always a lot of little things your might not think of at the beginning of the project, like realizing you can just allow users to upload any size photo or type of file either. Also you don't want people to upload pictures of anything. So you have to build a admin screen that images go to for approval before being posted live on the site.

posted bySo I signed on today at my desk and decided to take a look at my page rank on google. What I saw about gave me a heart attack. When I typed in Matt Miller my name was number one! But, much to my disappointment I soon realized that this was a new feature on google that checks your browser history and finds pages you have been to already and checks it for the key word you typed in( Matt Miller ), and gives them rank over all other sites pretty cool stuff.
Integrating HTML 5 into my portfolio site. Im using the video tag to display my video projects in my portfolio page. I like the video tag it makes integrating video into a website quick and easy. The only down fall I feel is that you have to uses go file format for the videos. I should be more universal if they expect the conversion time to be shorter for people to convert to using the tag instead of using flash players. Check out my HTML 5 Integration

posted byI figured since I work for Vivid Ascent a integrated marketing agency devoted to SEO, I should start learning more about the Biz. SEO is interesting because they never really teach it in beginning web class, even though is a relatively basic coding. I guess its because SEO involves more researching then production. I still think they should go over it more at the beginning stages of learn web development , just to build a good base , so that way when the time comes around to worry about SEO the solid structure is there to work with. Thats my rant for today. :)
posted byJust finished up the Drupal test site for CBOENews. I video module was a bit of a pain. Most of the Video mods available used a video converter that needed to be installed on the sever side. This becomes a problem when you use third party hosting. You can install on their severs. I found swftools to be the best fit for my project. Its very end user friendly. It uses a simple javascript call to embed all flash types.
posted byDrupaling it up today! converting CBOE into a CMS using Drupal. Its gonna be a little trick CBOE has some functionality that not sure how to do it in drupal. But this will save much needed time in the future from me having to make copy change, someone else can do and I can work on other builds.

This site I developed for Modern Masters new product release, which transforms old looking countertops into a Granite look for a very low cost. This site has some very unique functionality. It has tool to allow users to see what the transformation kit will look like on there countertops by uploading an image of their countertop. It also has a calculator tool that help users figure out the amount of supplies will be needed to transform their countertop. View Project>>
